Hey guys!
It has been a wonderful week! The beautiful rain cooled down the heatwave that hit New York. It was brilliant!
- Finished off most of my projects at WYA, things are slowly winding down. I now have a little presentation/spiel about the ethics of assisted reproductive technologies I'm happy to present wherever the opportunity arises. It's so exciting to do this type of thing as work.
- Got to Toronto on an 8 hour bus ride of awesomeness. I just love buses! And also have new-found respect for cab drivers. These drivers do amazing work. It was a serene bus ride, probably because everyone's afraid of the quiet Asian girl who may or may not lash out at everyone and do a copycat of the decapitating-head incident. You never know with those shy Chinese girls. Be wary. From one Chinese girl to you. We are pretty unpredictable.
- It's been kinda crazy, open season on Nicole's brain by the universe (who obviously has other concerns and priorities)...Well. It was open season. I decided after my interviews in Toronto that I had to go to DC. I've accepted an internship with the Susan B Anthony List, and just today (literally this morning) found housing, and will be moving in September 1st! I'm so excited to have a plan for the moment, you have no idea! It's amazing how things have thankfully fallen into place. I'll be going to DC a few days ahead of time to make sure things are in place, I know how to get to the office, understand the metro, etc. It is an amazingly expensive city so we'll see how I can make the budget stretch even farther than usual :) Those of you who've lived with me will know how much I like to stretch these things =)
- The next obstacle though is the Work Visa - trying to get permission to work in DC...But I will deal with that tomorrow...
- Marlena and Jacek are married! It was a beautiful beautiful ceremony, and such a happy day! It was the Newmanites, and the YTOL-ites that dominated the wedding guests, and it was so much fun! We danced the night away! And I do believe I am in love with Polish food. Yay Bigos! I think I can live on the stuff: http://www.krykiet.com/polish_food.htm
Oh where has it been my entire life? It was fate I tell you, that I encountered it at Mar Mar's wedding.
- Sarah and I stayed up late each night recapping moments from Newman, the past year, everything that happened after leaving Newman :)
- I tried to bake an apple pie, but ran out of time due to wedding attendance. Darn. Had to prioritize I guess...
- I woke up post-wedding inspired to write an article, coming soon to a Catholic Register near you! :) (Go find it, go on, it's in the September edition two weeks from now, I'll remind you) - in an attempt to promote people rushing to Newman Centre or any parish church searching for Catholic Registers (Let's get the hype going people!)...tehee.
- The strangest thing happened in the grocery store today - I paid for food with a $50 note, I am SURE I did, and they paid me back assuming it was $100. I told them I thought I paid with a $50, but of course had no proof, and the cashier said she'd never make a mistake like that, and made me keep the money. Can you imagine? Now I think either I'm crazy or well, the store was. Either way, it was pretty surreal. I'm told this wasn't stealing though. Who knows what it was...maybe my mind is going, or my reality is warped. Something like that.
- Hmm let's see...usual Tiffanys visit. Do they even have Tiffany's in Washington? Gasp. Must google this.
Talk to you later!
