Hey folks!
It's been so crazy here I haven't written to tell you guys stuff :( Though many times through it all I have been wanting to sit back and tell you! I haven't any idea how to begin except in a list of bullet points...as they come to me...
- I went to see a broadway musical last night named "Sunday in the park with George" - it was awesome!
- I WENT INSIDE THE TIFFANYS - it was magical and wonderful - the first floor was the smaller stuff, the second floor were the multi-million dollar pieces, and the third were more glasswares. perfumes, scarves...We saw some really good pieces, and then you know, the others where you're like, they actually manufactured multiple copies of what I can only assume to be a vision of what the designer dreamed up after a horror movie spooked her and made her sleepless three nights running. Win some, lose some I guess.
- I met and am inspired by this shoe designer (www.carmenho.com) - she was my cousin's MIT roomate, and so she began in investment banking, true to her degree (oddly, double in Business Communications and Architecture) before she switched, flew to Milan, went to Ars Institute or something, and started her own shoe design company. And the money she makes she gives to the efforts of access to clean water in developing countries. She may be switching again, to spend more time on the water issue and non profit groups.
- I love walking around in New York...I've been walking blocks and blocks, I walked 40 blocks last night after the musical and it was amazing to see the city light up after dark. I kept to the safe neighbourhoods by 2nd avenue don't worry :) (So JD and Mary - I haven't been on the listed walks, I've sort of made up my own and bumped into the landmarks instead! I am getting lost alot less here than I did in Toronto actually because I've realized NY is a grid. Sweet!
- I am attending the CEDAW (Conference on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women) meetings in June! It's going to be right at the UN, and alot of fun. I'll write about it in a couple of weeks.
